Who The Canton Scholastic Chess League (CSCL) is a non-profit organization located in Stark County, Ohio.  Our members are students at various Elementary, Middle and High schools in the area, both public and private.  Our 2007-08 season had 349 students from 48 schools registered to play.

 

What:  CSCL conducts chess tournaments and promotes the game of chess to interested students.

 

When:  We typically conduct 5 chess tournaments, one per month from October through February, the last of which is the Championship for the year.

 

Where Our tournaments are hosted in various locations within Stark County, Ohio, generally at a member school that has a large facility.

 

Why To bring the benefits and enjoyment of chess to our kids.

 

 

How Much The fee for all four tournaments for the whole year is $20 per student.  In addition, USCF membership for each student is required to play in the rated sections of the tournaments, which is either $17 or $19 per year depending on age.  There is no fee for a school to play in the league, but we do expect you to follow the rules set forth in our Constitution and By-Laws.
